The three storey Grand Hotel, built in 1887-88 for Adolphus Edgecumbe, is architecturally significant at a regional level as the work of eminent architect, William Pitt. Of brick construction with stucco dressings on the two main elevations, it is distinguished by a top storey within a mansard roof.
